P90X!

I’m pretty excited with P90X so far! It seems to deliver results.

Gauging results of a fitness program is somewhat difficult, especially if the program is aimed at cardiovascular fitness. While with weight loss or muscle gain programs you can take “before” and “after” photos, with cardio programs you need to undergo specific tests “before” and “after”. Even then, you need to be careful about various variables (e.g. sleep, stress, food) that can affect your test performance.

Besides tests, there are two more indicators for progress. I experienced both today at my Krav Maga training.

  1. If the instructor has the entire class do 2 minutes of sit-ups and you keep going and going while the others grunt and collapse (and you did the same 3 weeks ago) - that’s progress.
  2. If you’re surprised by your own performance  - that’s progress.

Today was day 19 of P90X. I had no supplements (save a Clif Builder’s protein bar) and no change in diet, and had less sleep than usual the night before. Yet, I surprised myself and surpassed the rest of the class. There’s gotta be something to P90X!

Feel free to browse through my P90X FAQ Wiki, where I gathered a lot of information on how to get the most out of P90X: nutrition/diet, gear, supplements, workout schedule and tips and much more.

Bring it!,
Dan
